The Diabetes and Wellness Education Program is offered at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal complex and at the AST Clinic in Little Axe. The program provides diabetes and wellness education to Absentee Shawnee Tribal members, tribal employees, and Native Americans in the surrounding counties.

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe Medical Clinic is located at 2029 S Gordon Cooper Dr, Shawnee, OK 74801 . The clinic is wholly owned and operated by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. Appointments can be made by calling the clinic at 405-878-5850 or toll free at 877-878-4702 It is a free-standing, ambulatory care clinic. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed Every 1st Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Alabama Quassarte Tribal Town

Cherokee Nation Vocational Rehabilitation

CNVR is not a scholarship program but is based on eligibility. If a person is determined eligible, CNVR is able to assist with the cost of training/re-training at universities, colleges, and technology centers to acquire the skills and education needed to become gainfully employed or retain gainful employment.

Cheyenne-Arapaho Vocational Rehabilitation

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Vocational Rehabilitation Program offers a variety of programs and services designed to help American Indians with disabilities in finding employment and educational opportunities. Administered through the American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation (AIVR) program, these services are available to any enrolled member of a Federally Recognized Tribe, residing within the 11 county service area of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, with a documented physical or mental disability or impairment that is a substantial barrier to employment. AIVR services are also offered to Junior and Senior high school students age 16 and older, if eligible.

Chickasaw Nation

This tribe offers the following programs/services and more.

  • Employment and Training Program offers classroom training, work experience, community service employment, on-the-job training, job development and placement.
  • Family Advocacy Department provides child support enforcement, supportive assistance to keep families functional, child welfare services, and violence prevention activities.
  • Alcohol and Drug Program.
  • Community Services Block Grant is a program that helps families with utilities, rent, food and other services to prevent homelessness and unacceptable living conditions. The program also provides nutritional education and services for persons with diabetes and some other health issues.
  • General Assistance provides direct payments to eligible families to meet essential needs. To receive assistance, a persons must be a member of a federally recognized Indian tribe, one-fourth or more Indian blood, and live in the Chickasaw service area.
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance provides assistance with home heating and cooling expenses, and sometimes utility deposits. Persons must have proof of low income, a CDIB card, and complete an application.
  • Health Outreach Consultant.
  • Senior Nutrition Program.
  • Transportation for medical trips for persons with a CDIB card or enrolled members of the Chickasaw Nation.
